Last week, the increased demand for greenhouse tomatoes in Ukraine led to another wave of price increases.
This is said in a report by the EastFruit project, the Ukrainian News agency informs.
The report says that due to the consistently low demand for these products, which has been maintained in the tomato market for several previous weeks, importers were forced to reduce the supply of these vegetables to the domestic market.
As a result, the decrease in supply amid relatively stable demand triggered a new wave of price increases in this segment.
Thus, as of the end of last week, prices for greenhouse tomatoes were in the range of UAH 140-160 per kilogram, which is on average 16% more expensive than at the end of the week before last.

The main supplier of tomatoes to Ukraine is Turkey, which, due to the seasonal factor, has reduced the supply and this, in turn, has led to higher prices.
It is noted that now the cost of tomatoes in Ukraine is already on average 89% higher than in the corresponding period last year At the same time, it should be added that the sale of tomatoes in local greenhouses will begin no earlier than mid-April this year.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, last week the Ukrainian market saw another decline in selling prices for potatoes.
