The diplomatic institutions of Ukraine have identified 98 burials of Ukrainians in 21 countries. This data will be taken into account in the preparation for the creation of a Pantheon in Kyiv and the reburial of prominent figures.
This was reported by the head of the President's Office, Kyrylo Budanov.
This concerns the reburial of Ukrainian figures of different eras and professions, some of whom bequeathed to be buried in independent Ukraine. He noted that their graves are located in different countries of the world.
As part of the preparation, a list of individuals should be formed, a mechanism for the return of remains should be determined, and a place for the Pantheon should be chosen. The National War Memorial Cemetery is considered one of the key objects in this process.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, among the identified graves are figures of the Ukrainian People's Republic, the Western Ukrainian People's Republic, the OUN and the UPA, representatives of the government in exile and participants in the national liberation struggle.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, said that in parallel they plan to raise the issue of the return of historical artifacts and documents stored abroad and related to the statehood of Ukraine.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Supreme Court did not allow the construction of the National Memorial Cemetery in the Kyiv Region. Military were outraged.
After that, the command of the Airborne Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine criticized the Supreme Court's decision and emphasized that hundreds of mothers, wives and children are waiting for the creation of the National Memorial.
