President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced 10 factories for the production of interceptor drones that were built behind the back of the state in different parts of the world.
The Guarantor of the Constitution said this during a video chat with journalists on Saturday, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
"I know of about 10 plants, I'll tell you honestly, about 10 plants that were built behind the back of the state in different parts of the world just to avoid losing anything, God forbid. I believe they will lose," the President stated.
According to the President, one company sold a thousand interceptors to a certain country for USD 3.5 million.
"Dollars, so that it is clear what country and where these interceptors got. This is not a problem. We could have just given these interceptors to this partner for free. We produce two thousand a day, but we have enough money for a thousand. So this is not a problem," he said.
According to the President, the company raised the issue of losing exports, however, the Head of State believes that "they harm Ukrainian exports". He added that the country to which the interceptors were sold turned to Ukraine because they lacked a warhead.
"I have also been to another European country. I recently had an official visit here. They were also sold some of the interceptors. Again, without explosives. And they ask me if I can send more operators? I say no," Zelenskyy emphasized.
He added that the company that sold the drones for USD 3.5 million received a EUR 300 million contract from the state.
"To be honest, it sounds quite frivolous," the President said.
