Cashback for fuel costs UAH 20 million per day - Sobolev

The "Cashback for fuel" program costs the state UAH 20 million per day. This was announced by the Minister of Economy Oleksii Sobolev during the hour of questions to government in the Verkhovna Rada, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"The program costs UAH 20 million per day. We see that it is used by people who really need it. This money is targeted, it goes to people and is marked, they use it to pay off utility bills. Therefore, it is not true that the program is used en masse by people who drive very large, expensive cars. This is simply not true," he said.

According to Sobolev, during the first 6 days since the program started, about UAH 20 million cashback, which is financed from the budget of the Ministry of Economy, is accrued daily, 75% of the cashback is spent by Ukrainians on utility services.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, from March 20 to May, Ukrainians can receive partial compensation for fuel purchased at gas stations participating in the programs: 15% for diesel, 10% for gasoline, and 5% for autogas. The maximum amount of cashback on fuel is UAH 1,000 per person per month. According to the Ministry of Economy, this will save from UAH 2 to UAH 11 per liter.
