About a million military personnel of Iran's security forces are ready to take part in hostilities if the United States dares to conduct a ground operation on Iranian territory.

The Iranian Tasnim news agency reported this, citing its own sources, on Thursday, March 26.

An unnamed Tasnim source said that Iran has allegedly mobilized more than a million people for potential ground combat operations against the US army.

He also claims that in recent days Iran has seen a massive influx of people wishing to join the army, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) or the ranks of the Basij paramilitary militia, which operates as part of the IRGC.

"The US wants to open the Strait of Hormuz using suicide and self-destruction tactics; so be it. We are ready for both their suicide strategy to be implemented and for the strait to remain closed," the agency quotes its interlocutor as saying.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on Wednesday, March 25, Iranian media reported, citing military sources, that Iran had threatened to block shipping in the Red Sea if the US embarked on a ground operation.

Also on March 25, the American television channel CNN reported, citing officials familiar with intelligence reports, that in recent weeks Iran has been actively strengthening the island of Kharg, which is believed to be the main target of a US ground operation.
