Selling prices for table beets in Ukraine began to gradually decline in early March this year, and last week was no exception.
This is said in the message of the EastFruit project, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
In order to intensify trade and procurement activities, Ukrainian farmers are forced to reduce prices for these products again.
On the eve of the weekend, these root crops were offered on the Ukrainian market for UAH 3-8 per kilogram, which is on average 19% cheaper than at the end of the previous working week.
The report says that, according to experts, the decline in prices is due to an increase in the supply of these vegetables on the market, as farms that previously refrained from selling are now actively selling the available volumes.
At the same time, the supply of substandard root crops remains quite significant, which also puts pressure on the prices of quality products.
It is noted that currently the price of table beets in Ukraine is already 91% lower on average than in the third decade of March 2025.
Some market participants do not rule out further price reductions, despite the seasonal decline in supply. They explain their assessment by the significant stocks of beetroot in local storages.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, since the middle of last week, another wave of decline in selling prices for onions has begun in Ukraine.
