Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said his country will gradually stop gas supplies to Ukraine until oil transit via the Druzhba pipeline is resumed. This was reported by 24hu and Orbán on his Facebook page on Wednesday, March 25.
The politician stressed that Hungary will fill its own gas storage facilities and will not supply gas to Ukraine. According to him, he will present such a proposal at a government meeting, which he called "protection against Ukrainian blackmail."
"As long as Ukraine does not supply oil, Ukraine will not receive gas from Hungary. We will protect Hungary's energy security, maintain fixed gasoline prices and reduced gas tariffs," Orbán said.
In addition, the Prime Minister accused Ukraine of attacks on the southern gas pipeline supplying gas to Hungary.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on March 21, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico stood up for Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, who is blocking a reparations loan for Ukraine worth EUR 90 billion approved by the European Union.
On March 5, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said that he would not make any compromises with Ukraine and would end the Ukrainian blockade of the Druzhba oil pipeline by force.
