To counter the constant russian attacks on Ukrainian logistics in ports and on the railway, special teams from members of voluntary territorial community formations are being introduced. This was reported by the Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksii Kuleba in an interview with Radio Svoboda.
According to the government official, Ukraine's railway infrastructure is currently being shelled by about ten times every night, and attacks on ports have become "quite serious." The enemy is trying to completely cut off the country from export routes and front-line logistics, in particular in the direction of the Donetsk Region. In order to protect strategic facilities, civilian specialists are being involved in the shooting down of enemy drones.
As the minister emphasized, such units are already performing combat missions.
"It is in the ports and at Ukrzaliznytsia that we are introducing the first teams that, according to the resolution adopted by the government, will be able to and already perform certain tasks to shoot down drones, while not being military, but members of the voluntary territorial community formations," he said.
Currently, the government, together with the military, continues to strengthen the security of the logistics component in order to preserve the country's export potential and ensure uninterrupted communication with the front.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, due to the increasing risks of attacks on railway infrastructure, Ukrzaliznytsia has strengthened security measures and developed a clear algorithm of actions for passengers in case of a threat during the trip. When drones directly threaten the train, passengers will be taken out of the car.
