Poland has begun searching for the graves of the victims of the Volyn tragedy in Uhly, Rivne Region. This is reported by polskieradio.pl.
"Uhly is the second location in Volyn where exhumation work will be carried out. The first exhumation took place a year ago in Puzhnyky," the report says.
Scientists from Szczecin will conduct the first stage of work and aim to locate the burial place of the victims.
"In Ukrainian conditions, it looks like this: the first stage is search work. If a grave is discovered, the following application is submitted. Only after its consideration can the so-called exhumation be started. I have repeatedly emphasized that this is primarily research work. The discovered remains will be examined," said the coordinator of the work, Professor Andrzej Ossowski.
As a reminder, last year in Lviv, a joint Ukrainian-Polish search and exhumation expedition discovered a mass grave from the Second World War. According to preliminary estimates, the remains of approximately 40 people are involved.
