LaGuardia Airport in New York was closed after a regional plane collided with a car during landing at about 05:37 Kyiv time on March 23.
The incident was reported by Reuters.
The CRJ-900 aircraft, which was flying from Montreal, Canada, was operated by Jazz, a regional partner of Air Canada. While traveling at a speed of about 39 km/h, it crashed into a fire truck of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which serves airports in the region.
There were 76 passengers and four crew members on board. Both pilots suffered serious injuries. A sergeant and an officer who were in the fire truck suffered fractures and are in stable condition in hospital.
Official data on the total number of victims has not yet been released.
Due to the incident, the airport is temporarily closed, and arriving planes are being redirected to other airports.
