President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy honored the memory of the defenders who died in the battles for the village of Moshchun in the Kyiv Region.
The Office of the President of Ukraine has reported this.
The battles for Moshchun became a turning point during the russian offensive on Kyiv at the beginning of a full-scale invasion in 2022.
The Head of State installed a lamp near the stele on the territory of the "Angels of Victory" memorial and talked to the families and friends of the fallen soldiers.
"It is very important and right to honor the memory of the heroes who defended Moshchun, Kyiv Region and our entire country. We are grateful to your families and friends. It is a pity that they are not with us. They are in our lives, in our history. Thank you for defending Ukraine. Unfortunately, at such a high price," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The President separately thanked the defenders who took part in the battles for Moshchun for their service and all these years of fighting russian aggression.
"I wish everyone victory. It is very important that the war ends fairly. It is very important that the guys gave their lives for a reason. We honor everyone you knew and those who may not be known. The main thing we all know is that they all did the most important thing: we are here, we are alive, Ukraine is alive, our children are here. This is the most important thing," the Head of State emphasized.
Moshchun became one of the main defense lines of Kyiv. The russian occupiers intended to break through the village to the capital using the route Hostomel-Bucha-Irpin. on March 21, 2022, the Armed Forces of Ukraine completely drove russian troops out of Moshchun.
