Moscow mayor Sergey Sobyanin has reported a drone attack on Moscow, which russian authorities say was repelled by air defense forces.

The russian official made the announcement on the Kremlin-banned Telegram social network, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Sobyanin said that six drones were initially eliminated, and then several more attacks were repelled, destroying seven and six drones, respectively.

A separate report soon followed about the "neutralization" of two more drones.

Later, the mayor reported that several more drones had been shot down, bringing the total number of drones downed to 27.

Emergency services are working at the scene of the debris falling, but there has been no information about casualties or material damage.

There has been no independent confirmation of these claims at this time.

As Ukrainian News Agency reported, earlier in the Samara Oblast of the russian federation, drones attacked a gas processing plant, causing a fire.
