The Security Service of Ukraine has exposed an attempt by russia to sow tension between Ukraine and Hungary by threatening members of the Hungarian community in Zakarpattia.
It was reported by the SSU.
Representatives of the Hungarian community in Transcarpathia received anonymous phone calls from Ukrainian numbers demanding that they leave the country. The offenders threatened them with physical violence and called themselves members of "national-patriotic formations" or Ukrainian law enforcement officers.
The investigation established that the calls were organized from the territory of russia. Law enforcement officers are currently working to block such contacts and prevent similar provocations in the future.
On March 2, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó announced that the Ukrainian ambassador to Budapest had been summoned in connection with the mobilization of two Hungarian citizens from Zakarpattia.
And last year, for the first time in history, the SSU exposed a Hungarian military intelligence network that spied against our country. The agents' task was to collect information about the military security of the Zakarpattia Region, search for vulnerabilities in the region's ground and air defense, and study the socio-political views of local residents: in particular, scenarios of their behavior if Hungarian troops enter the region.
