Starting next week, over-the-counter medicines will be sold at gas stations. Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko has announced this on her Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"Starting next week, OTC drugs will be sold at gas stations. 15 licenses have already been issued, and 43 more applications are in process. The State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control will provide control," she said.
Svyrydenko also said that the Affordable Medicines program covered more than 1.5 million patients in 2026, 37 new medicines have been added since April, and the program budget is UAH 8.7 billion.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Svyrydenko said that Ukrainians would receive 5-15% cashback for fuel from the state at gas stations.
In February 2025, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy enacted the decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) to reduce prices for medicines, in particular, the Cabinet of Ministers was instructed to provide for the establishment of maximum supply and sales markups of no more than 10% starting from March 1, 2025, to be charged by distributors of medicines to wholesale prices for all medicines registered in Ukraine, as well as maximum trade (retail) markups of no more than 35% percent to purchase prices for all OTC medicines registered in Ukraine that are not purchased at the expense of state and/or local budgets.
