In 2022, russia created a top-secret special services unit, Center 795, which appeared during a full-scale war and unites elite units of the GRU and FSB of the aggressor state for the most important operations - from military operations in Ukraine to political assassinations and kidnappings abroad, investigators from the russian publication The Insider report.
The investigators indicate that Center 795 was created by a decision of the General Staff of the aggressor state of the russian federation in December 2022 and by June 2023 was almost fully staffed. It became a completely separate unit, the head of which was directly subordinate to the Chief of the General Staff or the Deputy Minister of Defense of the occupation country.
"In general, this is in the spirit of putin: to create parallel structures so that there is a certain spirit of competition," a high-ranking source in the security structures, familiar with the circumstances of the formation of Center 795, the publication told.
It is noted that Center 795 is based on the territory of the Kalashnikov concern training center, which belongs to Rostekhnologii Sergey Chemezov, a friend and colleague of russian dictator vladimir putin in the KGB. And the oligarch and co-owner of Kalashnikov Andrey Bokarev is helping to finance the project.
Some sources of the publication claim that it was Bokarev who came up with the idea of creating a completely autonomous elite unit in the Patriot Park, others say that it was the idea of the former deputy head of the Alpha combat department of the FSB Special Purpose Centre of the aggressor state, Sergey Vasilenko, and Bokarev simply supported this idea. In general, the idea was for the unit to become a secret "army within the army."
During the creation of the Center in 2022, the conversation was mainly in the context of the war in Ukraine, but the field of work has shifted to political assassinations in the West. Investigators say that in total, about 500 officers serve in Center 795, which are divided into three departments: intelligence, assault and combat support.
The material notes that one of the officers of Center 795 has already been arrested in Colombia on charges of organizing the kidnapping of several opponents of putin. This is 42-year-old Denis Alimov, a former employee of the OMON and the FSB special unit "Alpha" of the aggressor state of russia.
It is indicated that one of his tasks within Center 795 was the kidnapping of a political opponent of the Kremlin - his name is not mentioned in the official indictment, but, according to The Insider, it concerns family members of Akhmed Zakayev, a Chechen emigrant living in Britain. Alimov exposed due to the use of Google Translate for convenience.
In addition to the murder and kidnapping charges, Alimov is charged with providing material support to a terrorist organization and conspiracy to finance terrorism. Each of the main charges carries a possible life sentence. He remains in custody in Colombia awaiting extradition to the United States.
According to The Insider, Center 795 has already organized a number of assassinations and sabotage operations that are still under investigation.
Investigators have noted that Russia has tried at least twice to create an infrastructure for organizing assassinations that could operate beyond the reach of Western investigative agencies. In practice, this project has constantly faced an obstacle: the human tendency for convenience.
In particular, the secret unit 29155 was at one time partially compromised because its employees used their real passports, traveled under their own names, and left digital traces in European hotel registers and databases airlines. Center 795 tried to correct these shortcomings with the help of corporate camouflage and division into autonomous units. But all this did not last long due to a number of other mistakes - one of which was the use of Google Translate.
As Ukrainian News Agency reported, earlier law enforcement agencies detained a group of killers who were preparing mass murders in Ukraine of famous journalists and public figures. The operation was carried out jointly with Moldovan law enforcement officers. The investigation established that the network members acted under the supervision of the special services of the russian federation.
