The National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) stated that the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) officers detained their employee at a checkpoint allegedly because his parents live in the occupied territories, although he passed all possible checks, including a polygraph.
This was announced by NABU, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"At a checkpoint near the entrance to the city of Sumy, SSU officers, who probably belong to a unit under the coordination of the First Deputy Head of the SSU, unjustifiably detained a NABU employee. He was in the city while performing his official duties within the framework of an official investigation. Among the reasons for the detention is the fact that the employee's parents live in the temporarily occupied territory," NABU reported.
They noted that before his appointment to NABU, he had passed all the necessary checks, including a polygraph test at the NABU Internal Control Department, during which, in particular, questions regarding possible connections or cooperation with representatives of the aggressor state or collaboration structures were checked.
Such actions, according to NABU, prevent the documentation of the crime and the exercise of official powers within the framework of criminal proceedings.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine has registered criminal proceedings on the facts of alleged receipt of illegal benefits by former high-ranking officials of the Security Service of Ukraine. The basis for this was public statements by Ukrainian businessman Serhii Vahanian made in the media. Anti-corruption authorities reported the detention of an employee of one of the inter-district departments of the Security Service of Ukraine in Kyiv and the Region for receiving illegal benefits.
