The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) explained the reasons for the detention and additional check of a National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) employee at a checkpoint in Sumy. As it turned out, he is a native of the occupied territories and had a row of russian phone numbers in his phone.

This was announced by the SSU, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

In the conditions of a full-scale invasion, employees of the Security Service of Ukraine are providing a counterintelligence regime at checkpoints in the front-line regions of our country around the clock.

Yesterday, at one of the checkpoints at the entrance to the city of Sumy, a citizen of Ukraine was found who had a number of signs that required his additional check.

"The man is a native of the temporarily occupied territories, did not name his place of work, showed only a page from Diia to confirm his identity, and during the analysis of his contacts, a row of russian numbers were discovered. Acting in accordance with clear instructions and algorithms for such cases, SSU officers, whose task is to identify suspicious persons heading to the frontline region, initiated an enhanced check of the specified man," the SSU reported.

They noted that the Service works exclusively within the framework of current legislation and adheres to all algorithms created to ensure the safety of citizens of Ukraine and our military performing combat missions in the Sumy Axis.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the NABU stated that the SSU detained their employee at a checkpoint near Sumy.
