On March 11, it became known that the russian telecommunications satellite Express-AT1 was completely out of service. This led to large-scale disruptions in the broadcasting of russian propaganda TV channels from Kaliningrad to the Far East, as well as in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. This is stated in a report by the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.

So, it is reported that the apparatus of the russian state-owned enterprise Kosmicheskaya Svyaz (Russian Satellite Communications Company; RSCC) turned off on March 4. All attempts to restore its operation were in vain - the satellite was officially recognized as lost.

The outage affected key operators such as Trikolor, NTV-Plus and Russkiy Mir, which was created for the occupied territories. Russkiy Mir, which is used by the aggressor country russia to spread propaganda in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, is now completely paralyzed.

It is noted that the service life of Express-AT1 was calculated at least until 2030. The Center emphasizes that the premature loss of expensive equipment is a clear demonstration of the consequences of sanctions and russia's technological inability to maintain complex infrastructure. In 2024, the russian federation planned to carry out 40 space launches, of which it carried out only 17.

"While the Kremlin spends billions on missiles to kill Ukrainians, Russia's space infrastructure is falling apart before our eyes," the CCD summarizes.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Center for Countering Disinformation told how russian hackers are trying to gain access to WhatsApp and Signal accounts.
