Ukrainian volunteers have become one of the foundations of the resilience of the Defense Forces and played a key role in disrupting the plans of the russian troops in 2014 and 2022.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi has stated this, congratulating the servicemen on the Day of Ukrainian Volunteers, the official Facebook page of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
According to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, at crucial moments for the state, it was the volunteers who were the first to defend the freedom and independence of Ukraine.
"In 2014 and 2022, thousands of our citizens, leaving their homes, families and peaceful lives, took up arms to defend their native land," said Oleksandr Syrskyi.
He emphasized that thanks to the determination of the volunteers, the Ukrainian army was able to break the plans of the russian occupiers. Many of those who joined the army as privates have now become officers and commanders of combat units.
"They are destroying the enemy on the front line and inflicting devastating blows on its forces deep in the territory of the aggressor state," the Commander-in-Chief emphasized.
Syrskyi added that volunteers are an example of patriotism, courage and self-sacrifice, and their initiative and willingness to act in the most difficult conditions largely determined the resilience of the Ukrainian army.
On this day, he emphasized, Ukraine also honors the memory of volunteers who were killed defending the state.
"Ukraine will stand as long as there are people who are ready to fight for it," said Oleksandr Syrskyi, thanking the military for their service and loyalty to the oath.
