New US losses during Middle East operation: tanker plane crashes in Iraq

The US military reported the loss of a Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker tanker plane, which crashed in western Iraq while performing a combat mission.

The incident was reported by the US Central Command (CENTCOM).

The message states that the accident occurred during the operation.

"US Central Command is informed of the loss of a US KC-135 tanker plane. The incident occurred in friendly airspace during Operation Epic Fury, rescue operations are currently underway.

Two aircraft were involved in the incident. One of the aircraft crashed in western Iraq, and the second landed safely. This was not the result of enemy or friendly fire."

The command added that information is currently being collected on the causes of the incident, and more detailed information will be released later.

According to media reports, this is the fourth American aircraft lost since the start of hostilities against Iran.

Earlier, on March 1, the US lost three F-15E Strike Eagle fighters. CENTCOM then stated that they were mistakenly shot down by Kuwaiti air defense systems.

In total, since the start of the joint US-Israeli military operation against Iran, according to the US command, seven US servicemen have been killed, and about 150 more have been injured to varying degrees.
