The Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Digitalization of Poland Krzysztof Gawkowski reported an attempted cyberattack on the Polish National Center for Nuclear Research (NCBJ). It was repelled, and an extended analysis of the event is underway.
"We have detected an attempted hacker attack on the servers of the National Center for Nuclear Research. The hackers' actions were thwarted, all procedures worked," he said on X.
Currently, NCBJ is in constant coordination with government agencies, including the National Science and Academic Computer Network (NASK) and the Department of Energy. It is noted that an extended analysis of the event is underway.
"Currently, we do not detect any threats to the activities of the National Center for Nuclear Research. We will inform about the results of the investigation on a regular basis," the minister added.
The NCBJ press service reported that the cyberattack was repelled and the integrity of the systems was not compromised. All security systems worked in accordance with the procedures, and the attempt was blocked, and the measures taken allowed to immediately protect the infrastructure and ensure the smooth operation of the Institute.
There were no interruptions in production, operational or research processes, and the MARIA research nuclear reactor is operating safely and without interruption, at full capacity.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in January, Poland disclosed that at the end of 2025, the country was in a critical state and was "very close" to a large-scale power outage due to russian sabotage. In particular, in the last days of 2025, an attempt was made to massive cyberattack on a number of generating facilities.
