Foreign Ministry: 16 Ukrainians evacuated from Middle East

16 Ukrainians have been evacuated from the Middle East. It was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on its Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency informs.

"On March 11-12, 2026, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland, carried out a stage of evacuation of Ukrainian citizens from the Middle East to Warsaw. Ukrainian diplomats in Poland, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait ensured the evacuation of 16 Ukrainian citizens who found themselves in a difficult situation due to hostilities in the region," the statement said.

Ukraine expressed gratitude to its Polish colleagues for their organizational support, as well as to the European Union for its coordination role.

All in all, since February 28, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hotline has received 87 appeals from Ukrainian citizens regarding the worsening security situation in the Middle East (mainly due to the cancellation of flights).

As of March 11, the airspace remains closed in the following countries: Kuwait, the UAE, Iran, Iraq, the airspace in Israel is partially closed, Dubai (DXB) and Sharjah (SHJ) international airports are operating in test mode, Qatar has partially restored the functioning of the airspace.

The airports of Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and Oman are operating normally.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on March 2, the Foreign Ministry said that some of the Ukrainian citizens who were in the Middle East had been moved by land to Egypt.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, about 250,000 Ukrainians are currently in the region.
