Proceedings have been opened and an investigation into the circumstances of a possible violation of the legislation on personal data protection and banking secrecy as a result of the disclosure of personal data of a client by Monobank co-founder Oleh Horokhovskyi has been launched. Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets announced this on his Telegram channel on Thursday, March 12.
Lubinets noted that Horokhovskyi admitted that he was wrong, but this admission does not relieve him of responsibility for the disclosure of the client's personal data.
"I reacted to the situation immediately - I opened proceedings and started checking the circumstances of a possible violation of the legislation on the protection of personal data and banking secrecy. I emphasize that personal data cannot become an instrument of public pressure or humiliation," the Ombudsman emphasized.
According to him, violations of the law cannot be justified by emotions or public outcry. Lubinets promised to report on the results of the inspection in due course.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on March 9, monobank co-founder Oleh Horokhovskyi posted on Treads the story of a customer who contacted the bank with a question about blocking her account, while undergoing video verification allegedly against the backdrop of the russian tricolor.
On March 10, serviceman Serhii Hnezdilov talked to a client whose Monobank account was blocked. According to him, the girl was really in front of the flag of Slovenia, which is partly similar to the russian flag.
On March 11, Horokhovskyi said that he "drew conclusions" after the situation with the publication of the data of the bank's client Karina Kolb, but did not apologize to the girl.
