The number of participants in the non-banking financial market in February 2026 decreased by eight institutions to 761, and the number of licensed banks in February decreased by 60.
This is stated in the report of the NBU, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
In February, the licenses of five institutions were revoked at the initiative of the applicant: three financial companies and two credit unions. The license of one credit union was forcibly revoked. The NBU also changed the scope of the license for the type of financial services activity (expanding the scope of the license) for one financial company.
Eight non-bank financial institutions were excluded from the registers. In particular, two credit unions and one collector were excluded at the initiative of the applicant. Four were forcibly removed from the registers.
As of March 1, 2026, 403 financial companies (there were 407), 47 non-life insurers (the number has not changed), 10 life insurers (the number has not changed), one insurer with a special status, 100 pawnshops (the number has not changed), 81 credit unions (there were 84), one lessor (the number has not changed), 45 insurance brokers (the number has not changed) and 73 collection companies (there were 74) operated in the non-banking financial services market.
The number of banking groups (15) and non-banking financial groups (40) remained unchanged in February.
There are 14 payment systems operating in the payment market (there were 15) created by residents, including state-owned (the number has not changed) and 10 international (the number has not changed).
At the same time, 16 payment institutions (the number has not changed), 11 financial institutions authorized to provide payment services (there were 12), one bank issuing electronic money (the number has not changed), and one postal operator (the number has not changed) operate in the market of financial payment service providers.
Other entities operating in the payment market include 69 commercial agents (the number has not changed) and 32 technological operators of payment services (the number has not changed). Information about all payment market participants can be found here.
In February, the NBU received 188 requests from market participants for registration and licensing actions. The number of inquiries regarding financial companies, pawnshops, and lessors amounted to 118, insurers - 30, credit unions and collection companies - 10, and banks - 30.
