US President Donald Trump and russian dictator vladimir putin had a phone conversation to discuss the war of the aggressor state of russia in Ukraine, as well as the Middle East. According to Trump, the discussions were positive, and putin wants to be very constructive.
He said this during a briefing broadcast by the White House.
"Yes, I had a very good call with President Putin. We had a lot of people on the line from our side, from his side. We were talking about Ukraine, which is just a neverending fight and when, look, there's tremendous hatred between President Putin and President Zelenskyy. They can't seem to get it together," Trump said.
At the same time, in his opinion, the conversation with the russian dictator on this topic was "positive." However, another topic of discussion was the Middle East.
"We obviously talked then about the Middle East and he wants to be helpful. I said you could be more helpful by getting the Ukraine Russia war over with, that would be more helpful. But we had a very good talk and he wants to be very constructive," the US president added.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff said that work is underway to formulate a peace agreement that will end the war in Ukraine. In the coming days, he said, additional progress in the negotiations was expected.
Meanwhile, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on March 9 that trilateral talks between Ukraine, the United States and the aggressor country russia were postponed due to the situation around Iran at the suggestion of the American side.
