The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) has given gas station chains two days to respond to the reasons for the rise in fuel prices in recent weeks.

The company Parallel told the Ukrainian News agency that it had received a request from the committee.

"We received the letter yesterday. We have to respond today," the company said.

The competition authority asked standard questions about the history of changes in gasoline and diesel prices and their causes. They were also interested in suppliers and contract terms.

Parallel emphasized that the new indicators on the steles of the chain's gas stations are due solely to the increase in purchase prices of imported resources and the lack of warehouse stocks.

The Ukrainian News agency asked one of the former heads of the AMCU for a comment, who asked not to be named. "Nothing will come of this study. There is obviously no collusion in the oil market. This is a typical reaction of players to external events and price fluctuations," the expert believes.
