The United Kingdom has sent a group of military counter-drone specialists to the Middle East to strengthen the protection of military bases from possible attacks by Iran.
It was reported by The Telegraph.
According to the newspaper, on Tuesday, March 3, British military personnel arrived in the region, who had previously trained with Ukrainian units and studied modern methods of fighting russian drones. Additional forces are expected to join them in the near future.
The group includes, in particular, soldiers from the 12th Regiment of the Royal Artillery, a key unit of the British Army that specializes in countering drones. At the same time, these same soldiers have previously helped train Ukrainian soldiers in the use of missile weapons.
According to sources, the deployment of the British military took place at the request of several Middle Eastern states.
There are two separate groups of soldiers.
"The first lot are Brits who have got experience working in Ukraine and with Ukrainians and they'll be able to offer specialist advice, particularly on how they might layer the sensing, the warning and the targeting of the drones," the source told the publication.
The exact location of the base where the British military was sent was not disclosed. At the same time, according to the sources, no large-scale mobilization of additional forces has been announced, so the newly arrived military will probably simply replace those already in the region.
As a reminder, Ukraine has received a request from the United States for support in defending itself against the Shaheds in the Middle East.
