On March 5, Ukraine resumed electricity exports at certain hours of the day at a minimum level and exclusively during a surplus in the power system.
This is announced by the ExPro publication, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
The report states that the volumes of supplies are still very low - only 12 MWh were exported to Moldova during the night hours over day.
For the next day, March 6, companies reserved 120 MWh of capacity for export at daily capacity auctions.
The largest capacity was reserved for 10 am - 20 MW.
On March 5, larger capacities were registered at capacity allocation auctions, up to 61 MW at certain hours, but they were not actually used.
As noted by ExPro experts, currently the surplus in certain hours is formed due to the active generation of solar power plants and renewable energy sources in general, as well as due to the consistently high level of production at nuclear power plants.
Thus, the balance in the system was affected by the onset of spring and warm sunny weather, and electricity consumption was significantly reduced.
However, at some hours there may still be a capacity deficit and, accordingly, the application of power supply restrictions is possible.
Also, due to problems with the network infrastructure as a result of enemy shelling, a deficit may arise in certain regions.
Electricity imports still remain at a high level - on March 5, its total volume per day amounted to 27 thousand MWh.
Most electricity is imported during the evening peak hours, about 1.4 GW.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the last time electricity was exported was on November 11, 2025.
In February, compared to January, Ukraine increased electricity imports by 41% to record volumes of electricity imports - 1.26 million MWh.
