The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has issued an official statement confirming the fact of an attack by Iran. Two people were injured as a result of the incident. This was reported on the website of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.

According to the diplomatic department, the strikes targeted civilian objects: one drone hit the terminal building of the Nakhichevan airport, and the other fell near a school in the village of Shekerabad.

In connection with Tehran's aggressive actions, the Azerbaijani side has put forward a tough demand to clarify the situation and prevent similar incidents.

"We demand that Iran clarify the situation as soon as possible and take necessary and urgent measures to prevent the recurrence of similar incidents in the future. The Azerbaijani side reserves the right to take appropriate measures in response," the Foreign Ministry statement said.

Baku now views the event as a direct provocation and emphasizes its right to defend its sovereignty.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Iranian drone fell in Nakhichevan after the Azerbaijani army was put on combat alert.

The US and at least one Gulf state are discussing the purchase of Ukrainian interceptor drones to counter Iran's Shahed drones.
