Russian troops are actively using inexpensive reconnaissance drones at the front line, which have gradually replaced more expensive models. This was reported by Advisor to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Serhii Beskrestnov (Flash).
According to him, the occupiers are massively using drones of the Molniya [Lightning] type for aerial reconnaissance. Previously, the russian army relied on more expensive devices - Orlan-10, ZALA and SuperCam, the price of which reached tens of thousands of dollars.
Due to the effective work of Ukrainian air defense, such drones were regularly destroyed, which forced the russian forces to look for a cheaper alternative.
Beskrestnov notes that the new devices have a standard configuration: a SIYI ZR10 camera, an AI module and a mesh modem in the 1300–1500 MHz range. The difference between them is minimal and concerns mainly technical components.
Despite the lower cost, the mass use allows russian units to maintain reconnaissance capabilities even with significant losses of equipment. Thus, the enemy compensates for the destruction of expensive UAVs with a large number of cheaper analogues.
Recall that an FPV drone of the invaders was found on the outskirts of Kharkiv, it flew more than 23 kilometers from the border.
