Government allows Air Force to provide critical infrastructure enterprises with air defense equipment

The Cabinet of Ministers has allowed the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to provide critical infrastructure enterprises with air defense equipment for protection. Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced this on the Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"We are expanding the capabilities of object-specific protection of critical infrastructure enterprises. The government has allowed them to provide additional weapons to strengthen air defense," she said.

Now, according to her, critical infrastructure enterprises, regardless of their form of ownership, can create air defense groups.

The government is introducing qualification requirements for the composition of air defense groups, and personnel will undergo training and certification in institutions designated by the Ministry of Defense.

The procedure for inventorying, storing, accounting and using air defense equipment and ammunition is also being updated.

"The Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be able to temporarily transfer air defense equipment and ammunition to enterprises within the framework of an individual decision for each enterprise. This concerns weapons that are not currently used by combat units," the Prime Minister said.

She added that in the event of the use of ammunition, replenishment will be carried out according to a simplified procedure based on an act on actual expenses, all decisions are made under the control of the military command and within the framework of a unified air defense system of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on Europe to increase air defense production against the backdrop of events in the Middle East.

According to Zelenskyy, currently 80% of Ukraine's territory remains unprotected from ballistic missile strikes due to an acute shortage of appropriate air defense systems.
