Negotiations with US and russia not canceled. They are to be held from March 5 to 8 - Zelenskyy

The trilateral meeting of the teams of Ukraine, the US and the aggressor country of russia is to be held from March 5 to 8, but the venue is currently unknown due to the hostilities in the Middle East. This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in response to journalists' questions on Monday, March 2.

Zelenskyy noted that there is currently no updated information regarding any changes to the planned meeting. According to him, due to the hostilities, the venue may be changed from the capital of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi, to a safer country.

"The meeting of the teams of Ukraine, the USA and the russian federation was scheduled from March 5 to 8, approximately March 5-6 in Abu Dhabi. So far, due to these hostilities today, we cannot confirm that the meeting will be in Abu Dhabi, but no one canceled the meeting. The meeting must take place. It is important for us. We support this meeting, and the meeting is important, and the results are important, and the exchange is very important," the head of state emphasized.

Alternative venues for negotiations could be Turkey or Switzerland, which previously provided the opportunity for such meetings, Zelenskyy said.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on February 28, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the time and place of the next meeting of the teams of Ukraine, the USA and the russian federation will be determined depending on the security circumstances and real diplomatic opportunities.

Also on February 28, Zelenskyy said that the next six months are critical for achieving peace, otherwise the country may face a protracted war.

As a reminder, on February 26, US President's special envoy Steve Witkoff reported that the signing of a peace agreement between Ukraine and the russian federation would not give Ukrainians confidence in a peaceful future without threats from russia.
