The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said that Ukraine and the aggressor country russia allegedly agreed on a localized ceasefire in the area of the occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant for repair work.

IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi has stated this, his words were quoted by the agency's press service.

According to him, Ukraine and russia, with the mediation of the IAEA, agreed on a local truce in the Zaporizhzhia NPP area. It is necessary to restore the 330 kV backup power line to the plant.

Grossi added that demining is currently underway in the Zaporizhzhia NPP area to ensure safe access for repair crews

At the time of publication of the news, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine or the National Nuclear Energy Generating Company Energoatom did not comment on this information.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on February 20, the IAEA said that the occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP operates from only one power line. Shortly before that, the first of the two power supply lines was damaged by russian shelling.

As a reminder, at the end of January this year, Politico wrote, citing its own sources, that russia has offered Ukraine to divide the management of Zaporizhzhia NPP.

Following the news, Ukraine's Energoatom said that joint management of the nuclear power plant was technically impossible.
