Military return of all territories now will cost too many lives - Zelenskyy

Returning the lands occupied by russia exclusively by force at this stage is too difficult task. Complete de-occupation in a short time would lead to huge human losses. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with Sky News.

"Returning all our land today is very difficult. This would mean too many human casualties," the head of state emphasized. At the same time, he emphasized that Ukraine is not going to lose or voluntarily give up its territories.

In particular, Zelenskyy categorically rejected the possibility of retreating from strategic cities, such as Sloviansk or Kramatorsk, as this would leave hundreds of thousands of people to their fate under occupation.

The President also noted that he considers the diplomatic path as a necessary tool for pressure on Moscow. To this end, he called on the US to strengthen sanctions against russian elites and provide the Armed Forces of Ukraine with modern weapons. According to Zelenskyy, there is a "window of opportunity" before the US midterm elections in November to try to end the war peacefully on Ukraine's terms.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the idea of transferring Donbas to russia in exchange for ending the war is wrong and dangerous.

Earlier, President Zelenskyy accused russia of dragging out the negotiation process, which could already have reached its final stage.

He also criticized US President Donald Trump for openly calling on Ukraine to make concessions in the negotiation process with russia.

And in an interview with British journalist Piers Morgan, the President said that only the people of Ukraine can make the final decision on the territories.
