In January 2026, more than 621,900 taxpayers paid UAH 48.3 billion in personal income tax to the budget.
This is stated in the report of the Tax Service, the Ukrainian News agency informs.
This is 14.2% more than in the same period last year. Back then, the amount of personal income tax paid amounted to UAH 42.3 billion.
Regional leaders in terms of personal income tax payments are as follows
- Kyiv - UAH 11.6 billion;
- Dnipropetrovsk Region - UAH 4.8 billion;
- Lviv Region - UAH 3.2 billion;
- Kyiv Region – UAH 2.9 billion.
Important: personal income tax payers have the opportunity to refund part of the tax paid by taking advantage of a tax rebate.
If you are officially employed and have made certain expenses during the year, the state provides a mechanism for partial compensation of your funds.
What you can get a tax rebate for:
- Education: payment for tuition in domestic institutions of preschool, extracurricular, general secondary, vocational (vocational and technical) and higher education (own or first-degree family members).
- Housing rental: for internally displaced persons (IDPs), combatants and persons with disabilities as a result of war.
- Medicine: costs of assisted reproductive technologies.
- Mortgage: interest on a mortgage loan.
- Charity: contributions to non-profit organizations.
- Insurance: contributions under long-term life insurance contracts.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the implementation of the eCheck pilot project, a state digital fiscal check service, has begun in Ukraine.
