President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine to Oleksii Brekht, acting Chairman of the Board of NPC Ukrenergo.
This is stated in Decree No. 138/2026 of February 24, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"For outstanding labor achievements in strengthening the energy security of Ukraine under martial law, selfless service to the Ukrainian people, I hereby decree: to award the title of Hero of Ukraine with the Order of the State to Oleksii Oleksandrovych Brekht, a member of the Board of the Private Joint Stock Company National Energy Company Ukrenergo (posthumously)," the decree says.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on January 21, 2026, Oleksii Brekht, a member of the Board of the National Energy Company Ukrenergo, died of an electric shock at one of the company's substations.
Brekht personally supervised the restoration work at one of the power facilities recently attacked by the enemy.
Since June 2022, Brekht has been a member of the Board of Ukrenergo.
From September 2024 to June 30, 2025, Brecht was the provisional Chairman of the Board of the company.
