Today, on February 24, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and President of the European Council António Costa arrived in the capital of Ukraine. At the train station, the distinguished guests were met by Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, he said on X.
This is Ursula von der Leyen's tenth visit since the beginning of the Great War. The purpose of the trip is to reaffirm that Europe continues to support Ukraine financially and militarily, especially in this difficult winter.
"We will not relent until peace is restored. Peace on Ukraine’s terms," the European Commissioner emphasized.
António Costa, for his part, noted the four years of steadfastness of the Ukrainian people and assured of the EU's unwavering position: the common goal remains to ensure a just and lasting peace.
Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha called the visit symbolic, emphasizing that February 24 changed the history of Europe forever, and the presence of EU leaders on this day is an important signal for the whole world.
Also, the leaders of Estonia, Latvia, Iceland, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway arrived in Kyiv on the anniversary of russia's full-scale invasion. The Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Croatia Andrej Plenković and Gordan Grlić-Radman also arrived in Kyiv.
