The aggressor country russia has reduced the number of countries whose citizens can be recruited to participate in the war against Ukraine. Now the so-called "black list" allegedly includes more than 40 countries in Asia, Africa and South America.

The russian edition of Important Stories reported this with reference to its own sources.

According to the publication, in January, russian recruiters were given lists of countries whose citizens are prohibited from signing contracts to be sent to russia and further participate in the war against Ukraine.

In January, the list included China, India, Turkey, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Venezuela, Brazil and African countries. In February, Argentina, Colombia, and several other African countries were added to the list.

It is not known on what principle the decision to ban the recruitment of citizens of certain countries was made. The publication suggests that the "black list" was formed as a result of diplomatic contacts.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in February, servicemen of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine discovered the bodies of two Nigerian citizens in the Luhansk Region. They were recruited by russians to participate in the war against Ukraine.

In December 2025, Ukraine called on African countries to take action and stop the recruitment of their citizens for the war against Ukraine.
