The counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine detained an FSB agent in the center of Kropyvnytskyi who was planning an assassination attempt on the head of a state institution responsible for defense training in the Kirovohrad Region.
It was reported by the SSU press service.
According to the investigation, the 27-year-old mobilized man, who had left the military unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine without permission and was hiding in the region, agreed to perform the tasks of the russian special service after looking for money on Telegram channels. SSU officers identified his FSB handler.
According to the instructions of the FSB representative, the suspect followed the official of the regional institution, determined his daily routine, places of stay and routes of movement in the city. He gave the curator the coordinates of a cafe the official passed by and conducted additional reconnaissance at the site of the planned terrorist attack.
The SSU detained the man during the preparatory actions when he reported on his readiness to commit an explosion. According to the case file, the agent planned to blow up the official with an improvised explosive device, the instructions for which he was to receive additionally.
During the searches, the SSU seized a smartphone with evidence of cooperation with the enemy.
What threatens the man who wanted to blow up an official on the instructions of the FSB?
Investigators served him a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - high treason under martial law. The court chose a measure of restraint in the form of detention without bail. The sanction of the article provides for life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
