Ukraine imposed sanctions against Lukashenko due to assistance to russia in war

Ukraine has applied a package of sanctions against the self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this on his Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"Today, Ukraine has applied a package of sanctions against Alexander Lukashenko, and we are significantly intensifying the counteraction to all forms of his assistance in the murders of Ukrainians. We will work with partners so that this has a global effect," the President wrote.

Zelenskyy explained that in the second half of 2025, the russians deployed a system of repeaters to control strike drones on the territory of Belarus, which increased the russian army's ability to strike the northern regions of Ukraine - from the Kyiv Region to Volyn.

Some of the strikes, in particular on energy facilities and railways in the regions, the russians would not have been able to inflict without such assistance from Belarus.

According to the President, more than 3,000 Belarusian enterprises are put at the service of the russian war and supply equipment, equipment and components that are classified as critically important.

"In particular, these are components for the production of missiles that terrorize our cities and villages... The development of infrastructure for the deployment of medium-range missiles - Oreshnik on the territory of Belarus is also underway, which is an obvious threat not only to Ukrainians, but also to all Europeans," Zelenskyy stressed.

The head of state also stated that last year Belarusian enterprises supplied russia with critical components, components and a mechanical base for the Oreshnik missile systems, and this will continue in 2026.

"Alexander Lukashenko has been exchanging the sovereignty of Belarus for the continuation of his personal power for quite some time, helping the russians circumvent world sanctions for this aggression, actively justifying the russian war, and now he is also increasing his own participation in the scaling and prolonging of the war. There will be special consequences for this," Zelenskyн stressed.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on December 24, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy instructed to prepare, together with partners, options for responses to the deployment of russian medium-range missile systems Oreshnik on the territory of Belarus.

On December 18, the self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko announced that the russian Oreshnik is taking up combat duty on the territory of Belarus.
