In Kropyvnytskyi, shelter with hundreds of animals flooded due to river overflow

In the city of Kropyvnytskyi, an emergency situation arose in the BIM animal shelter, which was completely flooded due to a river overflow.

This was announced by the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service in the Kirovohrad Region, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The rescue operation lasted all night, as water freely filled the open enclosures, where hundreds of animals were housed.

Due to a critical increase in the water level, pumping out in some areas became technically impossible, so a decision was made to urgently evacuate the animals.

20 employees of the State Emergency Service, special equipment and three boats were involved in the rescue work, and dozens of caring residents of the city came to the rescue.

Rescuers carried adult dogs, puppies and cats out of the water, handing them over to volunteers and city residents who volunteered to take the animals in for temporary shelter.

As noted by the State Emergency Service, many animals had previously been evacuated by volunteers from the flooded Kherson Region after the explosion of the Kakhovka HEPP or taken out from under shelling in front-line areas.

Currently, work to eliminate the consequences of the disaster and accommodate the rescued animals is ongoing.
