SSU classifies car explosion in Odesa on February 16 as terrorist attack

The car explosion that occurred in Odesa on the morning of February 16 was classified by the Security Service of Ukraine as a terrorist act. A similar incident occurred ten days ago on the same street.

It was reported by the press service of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Odesa Region.

"The SSU classifies the car explosion in the Kyivskyi District of Odesa as a terrorist act and has already opened a criminal investigation," the statement said.

The investigation has preliminarily found that the explosion occurred on February 16 at 7:49 a.m. near a residential building on Akademika Korolyova Street. The driver of the car was injured and hospitalized.

The SSU jointly with the National Police are currently conducting comprehensive measures to establish all the circumstances of the incident and the persons involved in its commission.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing under Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (terrorist act).

As a reminder, on the morning of February 16, it became known about the explosion of a car in the city of Odesa on Akademika Korolyova Street. A man was hospitalized.

The Ukrainian News agency previously reported that ten days ago, on February 6, an explosion of a Toyota car also occurred on the same street - Akademika Korolyova.
