Ukraine has received a USD 690 million grant from Japan and Canada. The funds came under the ERA mechanism of the G7 countries through the World Bank's PEACE in Ukraine program.
This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Finance, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
This is the first tranche from Japan and the last tranche from Canada, financed under the G7 Extraordinary Revenue Acceleration for Ukraine mechanism, totaling USD 50 billion.
The funds raised have been transferred to the general fund of the state budget of Ukraine and will be used to finance priority state expenditures, in particular pension payments and social support programs, including housing and utility subsidies.
Grant funding is provided through contributions from international partners:
USD 544 million - contribution of the Government of Japan;
USD 146 million - contribution of Canada;
USD 0.8 million - funds from the PEACE in Ukraine Multi-Donor Trust Fund.
As the Ukrainian News Agency reported, the implementation of the ERA mechanism was launched at the end of 2024. Canada's total contribution within the framework of this initiative is CAD 5 billion Canadian (almost USD 3.6 billion), of which Ukraine received two previous tranches of CAD 2.5 billion and CAD 2.3 billion in the spring and summer of 2025. Japan's contribution to the mechanism of financial support for Ukraine by the G7 countries is expected to be JPY 471.9 billion (over USD 3 billion).
On February 6, 2026, the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine and the World Bank signed an agreement on the provision of grant funds within the framework of the Public Expenditures for Administrative Capacity Endurance (PEACE) in Ukraine Project.
The PEACE in Ukraine project has been implemented since June 2022 and is aimed at ensuring the continuous performance of key government functions since the beginning of the full-scale war. The total amount of funding raised under the project is USD 51.7 billion.
