During the Munich Security Conference, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that there is currently no certainty that russia is ready to truly end the war. He also noted that it is not yet clear whether it will be possible to find conditions that would be acceptable to Ukraine and at the same time satisfy moscow.
It was reported by Ukrinform.
It is noted that the list of issues that need to be resolved to end the war has become much smaller. At the same time, Rubio emphasizes that these are the most difficult topics for which it is most difficult to find a solution, and there is still a lot of work ahead.
The US Secretary of State emphasized that Washington continues to increase pressure on russia to force it to end the war. In particular, the United States has imposed new sanctions against russian oil. Also, during negotiations with India, the US side received a commitment to stop further purchases of russian oil. The PURL program continues to be implemented, where the United States sells weapons to support the Ukrainian military.
"All these processes continue without interruption. We do not yet have an answer to the main question and we continue to figure it out, whether an outcome is possible that will be acceptable to Ukraine and at the same time accepted by Russia," Rubio emphasized.
The US Secretary of State noted as a "certain success" that last week military representatives of both sides met for the first time in many years, at least at the technical level. He noted that further meetings are planned, including on Tuesday, possibly with different participants.
