In 2026, America will provide Ukraine with USD 15 billion worth of weapons. Europe will pay for it as part of the US-NATO PURL international initiative.
The statement was made by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in a interview with PBS.
He emphasized that in this way, partners will help Ukraine defend itself.
"The deliveries are worth about a billion euros a month, so this year it will be about USD 15 billion," Rutte emphasized.
He added that both lethal and non-lethal weapons, including interceptors to destroy russian missiles, remain essential for Kyiv, but their quantity is insufficient.
Financing for such support is provided by European and Canadian allies. At the same time, russia has significant stockpiles of missiles, so European countries continue to look for opportunities to transfer additional weapons from their arsenals.
Mark Rutte also noted that Ukraine is developing its own air defense missile production capabilities in parallel.
"Air defense is the most difficult part, but the so-called PURL program... It is critically important for Ukraine," the NATO Secretary General summarized.
