On February 11, Heraskevych was allowed to use a black armband or ribbon without personalization instead of a "memory helmet" depicting Ukrainian athletes who were killed due to russian aggression.

On the eve of his first start at the Olympics, Ukrainian skeletonist Vladyslav Heraskevych informed the International Olympic Committee (IOC) during a meeting that he was ready to compete in competitions exclusively in a "memory helmet".

On February 12, Heraskevych was disqualified immediately before the first race.
