Kenya accuses the aggressor country of russia of large-scale recruitment of its citizens for the war against Ukraine. Kenyan Foreign Minister Musalia Mudavadi announced a visit to Moscow to demand an end to this practice. This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC).
According to the CCD, the recruitment of foreigners by russia has long become systematic. Most recruits from African countries have no military experience, they are deceived into signing contracts, promising legal and well-paid work.
But after signing the contract, people are sent to the most dangerous areas of the front. As it became known from four Kenyans who recently returned from the front wounded, one thought that he would work as a salesman, two - as security guards, and the fourth - as a high-level athlete. In total, over the past two months, more than 30 Kenyans have been evacuated from russia.
"The Kremlin is using the recruitment of foreigners for the war as a way to compensate for losses on the front and avoid social tension within the russian federation. Such actions directly contradict the Kremlin's propaganda line in Africa. Russia opposes itself to the "colonial West" and talks about "respect for Africa," although in reality it uses Africans as a resource for its war of aggression against Ukraine," the Center emphasizes.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in September 2025, the Kenyan authorities arrested a suspect in sending the country's residents to the war against Ukraine.
