During a meeting of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine, which took place on February 12 in Brussels, international partners agreed on the provision of a large-scale military aid package worth almost USD 38 billion. This was announced by Mykhailo Fedorov during his speech following the meeting.
The main part of these funds will be directed to strengthening air defense, purchasing drones and developing interceptor drones.
"This is a large part of these announcements that were new today. They are going specifically to the air defense system, to drones, to the development of drone assault units, to "deep strike", to interceptor drones. That is, the quality and structure of assistance is changing before our eyes," said the Minister of Defense of Ukraine.
After the official part of the meeting, the defense ministers of Great Britain, Germany, and Ukraine - John Healey, Boris Pistorius, and Mykhailo Fedorov - addressed the media. The head of the British defense department, John Healey, specified that USD 35 billion would come directly from the group of allies, calling it an unprecedented step.
"This is the highest level of support," emphasized John Healey, commenting on the amount of funding and the unity of the partners in the issue of protecting Ukrainian skies and developing the technological capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Norway agreed to contribute NOK 4.2 billion (USD 443.25 million), and France will provide a loan of about 3 billion crowns (314,835,000) for military support to Ukraine.
