The second batch of generators from the European Union has arrived in Kyiv. In total, the Ukrainian capital has already received 500 generators from the EU, which will power individual heating stations in homes. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko has announced this.

"Kyiv has received the second batch of 323 more generators from the European Union. They were handed over to the capital by EU Commissioner for Preparedness, Crisis Management and Equality Hadja Lahbib, with the participation of First Deputy Minister of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine Aliona Shkrum. In total, Kyiv received 500 autonomous power sources from the EU. In particular, 438 generators with a capacity of 20 kW and 62 generators with a capacity of 22 kW," said Vitali Klitschko.

The mayor noted that the stand-alone power supplies were provided from the EU's strategic reserve of civil protection assets - rescEU through the Emergency Response Coordination Center (ERCC) under the Directorate-General for Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid (DG ECHO). Deliveries from the rescEU reserve are fully funded by the EU and coordinated by the European Commission.

Klitschko also told how Kyiv uses generators from the EU.

"The first batch (177 generators), which was received earlier, has already been sent by the city to connect to individual heating stations in buildings where there is such a possibility. The second batch will also be used mainly to power the heating stations. We are grateful to our European partners for this much-needed assistance in the context of the energy crisis in Ukraine and Kyiv!" Vitali Klitschko emphasized.

Earlier it was reported that Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko appealed to foreign partners to help Kyiv overcome the emergency situation caused by russian strikes on the capital's critical infrastructure. After that, the Ukrainian capital received more than two hundred generators from Poland, 30 generators from France, 177 generators from the EU, a mobile boiler room and generators from Copenhagen, and more. This equipment is immediately connected to critical infrastructure facilities, social institutions and residential buildings to restore water, heat and electricity to people as soon as possible.
