A series of massive air attacks by the army of the aggressor country russia have led to the loss of up to 10 gigawatts (GW) of generation capacity in Ukraine's energy system.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this in an interview with Bloomberg.

According to him, up to 10 GW of generating capacity was lost due to russian strikes. This led to a deficit of 5-6 GW in the system every day during peak hours.

Zelenskyy emphasized that some of the energy facilities that were attacked by the russians could be restored only by the next heating season.

The President also urged not to overstate optimism about the recovery. It should not overshadow the difficulties Ukraine faces in terms of financing and maintaining its military potential.

"An economic shock could loom without clear sources of financing, he warned, referring to billions of dollars needed for reconstruction, social spending the military for years to come," Bloomberg writes.

According to him, Ukraine requires a clear financing mechanism with the participation of Europe. He emphasized that the potential use of frozen russian assets would be insufficient in the long run.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, yesterday, February 10, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal said that in the near future, another 500 generators from the European Union would arrive in Ukraine.
